Jalapa Chapel is the name of the ministry that now operates in the former United Methodist Church in Jalapa, Indiana.
The Church closed to formal services in April 2006 and the building was purchased in October 2006 by a local couple, Robert and Deena Finney.Repairs and minor renovations were done on the building and property and services began on October 14, 2007. These include a Worship Service on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. and a Midweek Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
Steeple Restored
A beautiful new bell tower steeple was restored to Jalapa Chapel on July 20, 2010. Patterned after the original steeple built in 1891, the new fixture was donated by family and friends in loving memory of Frank E. Cravens, long-time Jalapa resident and member of the church both as Jalapa United Methodist and Jalapa Chapel. The steeple was designed by Rick Willoughby of LaFontaine, IN and constructed by church attendee and Board member Chris Lawson, assisted by CIC Construction. Jalapa Chapel family members turned out in force to witness the raising and setting in place of the new steeple by Doc's Erectors of Huntington, IN. Along with the steeple is a beautiful lightweight replica of the original church bell and a computerized carillon system, from which daily chimes and pre-service music plays. The Jalapa Chapel family thanks God and those He used to make the new bell tower steeple a reality. It is our fervent hope that it will be a blessing to all who enjoy it through the coming years.

Additional pictures and artifacts are constantly being sought. Please contact Robert Finney at 765-384-5162 if you have pictures or information.
